Holistic dentistry
Zirconia dental implants
Metal-free ceramic implants that replace the root of a missing tooth, look natural at the gum line and suit a holistic approach to care.
Why choose a dental implant?
A dental implant is a small post placed in a healthy jawbone. It replaces the root of a tooth, not just the part you see, which is why implants are considered superior to removable dentures and even fixed bridges.
- Protects healthy teeth. Unlike a bridge, an implant doesn't require reshaping the teeth next to the gap.
- Keeps the jawbone strong. Implants stimulate the bone. Replacements that sit on the gums can't, so the bone gradually shrinks and the face can look sunken.
- Feels like your own teeth. The bone bonds to the implant, securely anchoring a crown, bridge or denture so you can eat your favorite foods.
- More comfort. Implant-stabilized dentures don't rub or shift when you talk or eat.

Why zirconia?
Most implants are titanium. Zirconia implants are ceramic and contain no metal, which makes them ideal for a holistic practice. They have been used extensively in Europe for more than twenty years.
They also look better. Titanium can leave a dark line at the gums, especially on front teeth, while zirconia's white color creates a natural-looking foundation.
How it works
Getting your implant
-
1
Consultation
We take x-rays and examine your mouth to check bone density and confirm you're a good candidate, then answer all your questions.
-
2
Placement
Implants are placed with local anesthetic. Sedation is available if you'd like to rest comfortably or feel anxious.
-
3
Healing
Expect some swelling and soreness for a few days. Stock up on soft foods like soup and yogurt. The bone fuses with the implant over up to six months.
-
4
Your new tooth
Once healed, you're fitted with your permanent crown, bridge or denture.
